Moon Babies

Hey all! I am loving all these challenge blogs! Now wondering why I never used them before they are so good for helping you think outside your comfort zone. Today's projects are inspired by the Mojo Monday 481 sketch.

I had 2 baby cards to make and thought this sketch would be a fun one to use in order to create them. As you will be able to see I didn't keep the shapes used in the sketch but more used it for layout inspiration. At first I tried to incorporate at least the rectangle but after much playing I soon came to the conclusion that sticking to stars was the best way to go for me.

At first I intended to make 2 different cards, however after finishing the boys one I loved the way it looked so much I decided to use the same design for the girls card.

The making of these cards was my first time using the watercolour pencils by Stampin' Up! and I just have to say I am in love! they made colouring the baby so much fun and super easy as well and I can't wait to play with them some more. I am also addicted to the wink of stella pen and am pretty sure I will be overusing it in many upcoming cards :)

That's all from me for now, I am off to hunt down another sketch challenge so I can immerse myself in my craft room some more, hope your day is wonderful.

102nd Birthday Card WWYS100

I hope everyone is having an amazing day! I have just been to see my magic man who works wonders on my neck and back and am enjoying the sweet relief of being headache free without the use of pain killers for the first time in seven days.

Before my treatment it was my honor to be asked to make a birthday card for an amazing women who is turning 102! I have had the honor of making her a card every year since I was first asked to make her 100th Birthday card and I wanted to do a good job.

For this card I took heavy inspiration from Bekka please follow the link on her name and show her the love she deserves, for without her amazing card this one would not have been possible in my state of mind when I made it last night.

I also stumbled across the What Will You Stamp challenge blog while I was searching for inspiration for this card and saw their current challenge was to ue the number of years stamp set, which was perfect for this card.

I originally used the stamps to place the 102 to the front of the card, however I didn't like the colour payoff of the Perfect Plum on the Crumb Cake card stock so I ended up using the thinlits to cut them out instead and placed a piece of perfect plum behind to make it blend better with the card. I then used one of the wonderful sentiments from the set on the inside.

All in all I loved making this card, and I am so thankful to have come across Bekka's card on pinterest as this is such a beautiful layout in my opinion.

I hope you all have a wonderful day, I'm off to do some more crafting now that my head is clear :) try to stay cool if your in Australia like me it is another scorcher of a day.

Succulent Window Box GDP071

Happy Australia Day!

I hope everyone is having a fun and safe Australia Day and I hope no one is melting in this heat. I had to work this morning, and I made this little box for a work friend who is OBSESSED with Succulents, she wasn't looking forward to working today and I wanted to brighten her day a little bit.

As well as being a way to brighten to someone's day this is also my entry for the Global Design Project 071. You can follow the link in the challenge picture below to check out the other entries as well as the design teams projects, there are some amazing pieces up already.

With a theme of 3D or off the page I couldn't help but team the beautiful window box thinlits with the succulent thinlits to make this little trinket box.

I chose to keep the box itself rather simple as I wanted the beautiful succulent's to steal the show and didn't want them to be overpowered by embellishments down the side of the box.

Below I have included colour swatches of all the colours used in this project, below them you will find a list of which colours were used on each part of the project in case you want to try to recreate all or part of this project yourself.

Large Center Succulent

  • Cardstock - Garden Green
  • Inks - Always Artichoke, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White
Small Green Succulent
  • Cardstock - Mint Macaron
  • Inks - Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede and Whisper White
Small Purple Succulent
  • Cardstock - Sweet Sugarplum
  • Inks - Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede and Whisper White
To create the effect sponge the first colour over the whole cut out, do not create a solid look with this it is just to add texture, then darken the tips of the petals with the second colour and finally apply the white to the center and use your finger to tap it and diffuse the colour for a more natural blended look

Box
  • Cardstock - Tip Top Taupe
  • Inks- Soft Suede
For the box I just sponged Soft Suede around the edges to tie the box in with the look of the succulents more then it did as a stark clean box.

That's all from me for today, I hope you all have an amazing day and happy crafting.

Update and cards

Long time no see! Yes I have been MIA for a little over a year, I have still been crafting, trying my hand at new things and neglecting some of my older passions but it's a new year and time to get back to what I love which includes Stampin' Up!

I intend to turn this blog into a bit more of a generalized craft sharing space then it was originally intened and therefore I will be uploading different project I complete whether they are Stampin' Up! Paintings, Clay Creations or some other crafty pursuit. I tend to craft best when I focus on whichever medium takes my fancy on any particular day therefore there will likely not be any ryhme or reason to the order in which I post, I hope this won't be an issue.

Now to kickstart this new year I would like to share with you a few of the cards I have made over the last few days.

First up is a card I made using the January sketch from The Sketch File

I found working off a sketch idea so helpful as I wanted to create something but with no one in mind I was finding it hard to find inspiration. After a little thinking and playing I came up with the below card using the Sheltering Tree and Hardwood stamp sets. You can see the colours I used below the image, if you have any questions on how I did this technique feel free to ask :)

Second and last up for today is a nice and clean simple card I decided to make as I wanted to show off the beauty of the So Detailed Thinlits without distracting from them. I fully intend to play with this set more and go into much more detail with it but I wanted to begin with keeping it simple and letting the beauty of this die do all the talking, again you can see the colours used under the card.

I also used Gold embossing powder for the above card however I haven't yet figured out how to make a colour splatter for it yet so I appologise for that one.

Well that is all from me today, I hope you enjoyed my little update post as well as the 2 cards I created, and now as the clock ticks away to 10:30pm I am off to find my pillows. Have a wonderful day. xx
