Ombre Birthday Just Add Ink #348

Good morning beautiful people, I hope you all kept cool yesterday, I had a lovely relaxing day making cards while the puppies sprawled out on the floor trying to keep cool. Today's card was one I prepared yesterday, and it is based on the Just Add Ink - Just Add Ombre challenge.

I love the look of Ombre things, so when I saw this challenge I as excited to give it a go, and I decided I had to play with one of my favourite colours, purple for this card.

I wanted to keep it pretty simple and let the Ombre speak for itself, I also decided to use up some of my white card scraps for this one, hence the two sections of the background being of different sizes, though I think it works well.

I used my ink pads and sponge daubers to create the ombre background, on top of this I decided to do a simple white embossed flower from the Butterfly Basics set to add a little interest without totally overshadowing my Ombre background.

I was originally planning to have a plain white panel next to the flower however I couldn't help having a bit more a play so I grabbed out my Gorgeous Grunge set and stamping in all three colours up the blank panel having the colours progress in the opposite direction so the lightest colour was at the bottom allowing me to stamp the sentiment where it would be most legible.

I hope you all have an amazing Sunday, I'll be at work at the green box today, (aka Bunnings) pondering what I can create when I get home, am I the only one who is always obsessing over being back in my craft room? Have a great day and happy crafting.

Oh So Succulent PCC232

Hey everyone! Oh my it is a disgusting day outside today in Western Australia and I am happy to be locked away in my craft room with NCIS playing in the background while I make cards. Today's card was inspired by the amazing Paper Craft Crew, today's challenge from them is a sketch challenge and I had so much fun with it.

At first I wasn't sure what stamp set to use, but after some deliberating I decided it would be a fun card to play with the Oh So Succulent stamp set. Before now I have only used the dies and not the stamps so it was fun getting them out and seeing what they could do.

This is such a fun set and I don't know why I waited this long to have a proper play with it, but I'm glad I decided to use it for this challenge. I almost decided to ignore the washi tape element of the sketch but I made myself include it, I have a good washi tape collection but I never use them so it was good to be forced to use it.

In order to get the small succulents a lighter purple I simply stamped off on a scrap page with Rich Razzleberry and then stamped on my whisper white card stock.

I made more succulents then what I used on the front so I decided to use them to decorate the inside corner of the card, something I am trying to work on is to decorate the inside of my cards as well instead of neglecting them.

That's all from me for now, I am off to play with some more cards and plan my afternoon around not leaving the beautifully air conditioned house. Stay cool and happy crafting

Watercolour Wings GDP075 & CI04

Good Evening! I hope you have all had an amazing week, I have been getting into exercise and my muscles are killing me, so after a busy day I was so happy to relax in my craft room and do a little creating. For today's project I decided to have a little fun and combine 2 challenges that I thought would go together beautifully. First off I drew inspiration from the Global Design Project and their Winged Creatures themed challenge. Now my automatic response was to reach for my Dragonfly Dreams set, however I decided to make myself use my more neglected Watercolour Wings set instead.

My second challenge I drew inspiration from was the Colour INKspiration challenge, they are a challenge group set up on facebook as apposed to the normal blog situations. When I saw their colour challenge for this week I knew I had to challenge myself to give it a try, firstly because it is a colour combination I would not usually think to use together and I wanted to give it a try, and secondly because I have Delightful Dijon card stock overflowing from my paper stack and I have never used it, so why not drag it out and give it a try.

Now you know the reasoning behind me trying out these challenges I think we should get onto showing you what I came up with. Throughout the process of making this card I was constantly thinking I didn't like it, that the way I was using the colours wasn't working and I was convinced it would turn out terrible.

By the time I glues it all together and started taking photo's of it I was finally beginning to like it and although it is out of my normal comfort zone I am very happy with the end results.

I decided to bling this card up a little bit with the amazing wink of stella! I am almost out of my first pen of this magical glimmery perfection and definitely need to get more! I also decided to use some pearls down the middle of my butterfly, just to add a little bit more to the card, I tossed up using rhinestones instead but I just love the look of the pearls so much and couldn't go past them.

Finally I added one of the smaller butterflies to the inside of the card just so it didn't feel neglected, I originally made a few of these smaller butterflies for the front until I realized it would look way too crowed if I was to put them on, so I decided to use them to jazz up the inside instead of just pushing them to the side and not using them.

That's all from me for today, however the morning promises a hot 40 degree day here in WA so I will be hiding out in the craft room with the air-con on all day so will hopefully have some finished pieces to share with you then.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend and happy creating

Overwhelmed with Gratitude

Hey everyone! I want to dedicate this post to one amazing person, unfortunately I don't know who they are, however I hope the read this so in some way I can give them the enormous thank you they deserve, and I hope that their life is filled with nothing but good things. Your probably wondering what I am rambling on about so let me tell you the story and hopefully I can articulate it properly, I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude however that if I ramble or repeat myself I hope you can forgive me.

So you may or may not have seen my post on the 9th of this month, entitled Sad day to be a Stamp, for those who haven't let me give you a brief overview. I treated myself to a personalized stamp off of Etsy, I wanted to be able to use this stamp on my cards and other craft exploits in order to promote Sarahrious Crafts. It arrived and I was so thrilled, the quality was amazing and I couldn't wait to use it, unfortunately my adorable but evil puppies got a hold of it and ate it.

Now due to being broken into and having to arrange new security measures I was unable to go ahead and purchase a new stamp and after the break ins and attempted break ins we had been dealing with my stamp being beagled had been the straw that broke the camels back, making me more upset over it then I probably should have been.

By the morning I had come to terms with the fact that it would be at least a minimum of a few weeks probably more before I could reorder my stamp. I went about my days and weeks and got back on with life again, trying not to dwell on the bad that had already happened this year.

Sorry that didn't end up being all that brief but now onto the amazing, incredible overwhelming part of this story, I messaged the etsy seller, who I had warned I would be reordering from due to my stamp becoming an expensive chew toy, to tell her I was ready to reorder my stamp. This was the message I got back in return.

Hi Sarah,
Someone who thought that you could use some good karma already bought you a new stamp. You should have it in a couple days, it is in the mail. 😊
~ Melissa

At first I thought she must have taken pity on me and organised a replacement for me but no, she informed me that someone had contacted her and purchased my stamp for me and asked that she not tell me who they are. I was so overwhelmed I sat in my craft room staring at the computer screen sobbing, I could not believe after everything that had been going on this year so far someone had done this amazing thing for me.

I still have no idea who it was, only that they must have read my blog as this is the only forum I had shared the link to the store. So long story short I just want to say the biggest thankyou to that person whoever you are, your incredibly kind act has restored my faith in the human race after being exposed to so much of the bad and just in general helped give me a brighter outlook on my life at this trying time. I hope I am able to brighten someones life even a fraction of the amount you have for me.

I know I can't send this card to whoever this is but I just had to make this special thank you card to share with this blog post, as this is the only means I have of saying thank you. I chose to forgo my usual watermark today and use my beautiful new stamp in my pictures instead.

I'm sorry for the long rambling post, I am just so incredibly touched by this gesture and wanted to show it in anyway I could. I hope you all have an amazing night tonight and I hope something happens this week to make you Smile.

Foxy Friends, Hello Baby CC&S Challenge #210

Good morning beautiful people! I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend, mine was a mixed bag, one day busy and one day very relaxed. My weekend is Friday and Saturday as I work on Sundays, and on Friday there was a lot going on, new doors being installed, camera's fitted, a date with my magic man who poked and prodded my back working out the kinks and my baby girl went to the vets for the day to be spayed.

As for Saturday I had to keep our girl Luna separated from Rocket as he so wanted her to play but she needs to rest. So she kept me company in the craft room napping peacefully on the couch while I got to making some cards to share with you, and this is one of them.

For today's card I wanted to join in the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #210, this is a sketch challenge that looked like a lot of fun. I have also been wanting to have a play with the Foxy Friends Bundle and thought this would be a fun time to do so.

I started this card by using the Fox Builder punch to make my big orange fox and built the card from there, I was contemplating for some time what to put in the two smaller circles and finally decided to fussy cut out two of the foxes from the A Little Foxy DSP stack. It wasn't until the very end that I decided this card would best suit a baby card and I pulled out this super cute Hello Baby sentiment stamp from the Moon Baby stamp set.

I'm often guilty of neglecting the inside of my cards as I spend so long focusing on the outside, so for this card I wanted to take the time to add just a small little something to the inside to really tie it all together. For this I simply placed a piece of white card stock and a scrap strip of patterned paper from the front on the inside and stamped this cute sentiment.

Although I had no clear idea where this card was headed until it was done, I am still super happy with the outcome. Sometimes you just have to start playing and see where it leads you, if you want to have a play you can find the products I used below.

That's all from me for today, I will see you again soon, have a wonderful day and happy crafting.
